Volunteers are the angels in our hallways, living out a spirit of service.
A group of dedicated Ignatian volunteers rolled up their sleeves and went to work at St. Catherine’s school library. Shelf by shelf, they re-cataloged every book. Over the course of six months, the volunteers were able to fully reorganize the library so that students could check out books by spring. “If it weren’t for these volunteers, we may not have been able to open the library. Many of our kids don’t have access to books, except at school, so this meant a lot to us,” said a former principal of St. Catherine School. Not only did they get the library fully functioning again, they served out the remainder of the school year, checking out books for students and reading to them on a weekly basis.
Volunteers are truly Christ for others and our students are benefiting from their dedication to service. Exposing our students to volunteerism in action demonstrates the love that they have for our students, their commitment to Catholic values, and love of the human family.
